![]() We are on our own over here, you just gotta look around for the player kit/patch and see if it works, set your game compatibility to XP, service pack 2 maybe 3, it's a very very specific thing to your specific computer, you gotta test it to see how it works.īut the alt tab thing? No chance. Kotor1, legacy of kain blood omen 2, soul reaver 2, those games don't even WORK AT ALL. Make no mistake - this is steam, they couldn't care less if you can run the game or not. They are core problems in gothic 1 and 2 and not JUST something specific to new computers/operating systems. Back in 2000-2005, with old operating systems, with old video cards etc, the most compatible ones at the time. We all get bugs from gothic 1 and 2, I played them since they got out and I can tell you that they were more stable back then but still had those similar problems with access violation/game closing when you alt tab. Patient: doctor, it hurts when I bend my knee It reminds me of a joke between a doctor and a patient: Resizing the windowed mode is still a huge bummer since it will occupy the top left of the computer. Why there's no option for this in game beats me. I often have to hold my toddler and he likes to watch stuff on the computer, normally I give him the left side with his youtube monkey cartoons and the right side is for me for anime or some game.Īlt tab without errors can actually be achieved by editing the ini file option windowed from 0 to 1. That makes no sense at all, using alt tab and even having games on small windows is fundamental nowadays. So you're saying players should not be able to minimize a game they're playing, are you serious? ![]() The only slightly more convenient solution I know is to play with your smartphone next to you and when something like that happens to just do it from there. I am in no way attacking you, but please, pick your words a bit better. While I agree that there really isn't much that could be done, telling him to just "not do it" comes off as condescending. There are tons of reason for someone to want to alt tab and when the alternative is rather inconvenient, it really does rustle your jimmies. Or he'd like to check something on World of Gothic for his build or whatever. ![]() And having to close and reopen the game gets annoying. Especially since it's rarely just one message and you have to reply multiple times. Maybe someone would message him on Steam and he'd like to respond soon, but instead of having to save, close the game, message back and then reopen the game to play it again, he'd just alt tab, message back and tab back into his game. But it does remind me of that stupid joke for the wisdom in its essence: if you know what causes a problem and you don't know a solution but you can easily avoid the cause, then just don't do that. I mean: if Alt-Tab causes problems, then don't Alt-Tab, you know? I want to repeat that your question is a valid one, as maybe someone knows a solution for it. Doctor: 'Uhuh, then don't move it like that!' Patient: 'Doctor, my arm hurts when I move it like this (makes a weird gesture with said arm)' But I can't help thinking of that one lame joke: Originally posted by kris.aalst:Cesar, your question is definitely a valid one and I don't know a solution, I'm afraid.
